Be careful with fake messages sent in the name of MTA.

1. What to Watch For

Fraud attempts made through fake SMS messages, emails and phone calls using courier company names have increased recently. MTA will never ask you for the following:

  • Credit card number, CVV code or card PIN.
  • Online banking username and password.
  • One-time verification codes sent by SMS.
  • A request to install a remote-access application.

2. Recognising Fake Messages

The following signs point to a fraud attempt:

  • An unexpected request for a "customs payment" or a "small delivery fee" for a shipment.
  • Links pointing to addresses outside our official domain.
  • Urgent, threatening language warning that the shipment will be destroyed unless payment is made quickly.
  • Impersonal messages containing spelling mistakes.

3. If You Encounter Something Suspicious

Do not click the link, do not share any information and delete the message. You can report it to security@mta.com.tr, and if you have suffered a loss, file a complaint with the public prosecutor's office or your nearest law enforcement unit.
